How Much Does Garage Door Repair Cost in Lancaster PA?

July 2026  ·  Lancaster Garage Door Pros

The most common question we get before a service call: "What's this going to cost me?" It's a fair question. Garage door repair pricing varies a lot depending on what broke, what parts are needed, and how long the job takes. Here's what Lancaster County homeowners actually pay in 2026, broken down by the most common jobs we handle.

Garage Door Spring Replacement — $150 to $320

Spring replacement is our most common service call in Lancaster County, especially in late fall and early spring when temperature swings stress the metal. Torsion springs (the horizontal spring above the door on a shaft) are most common on homes built after the mid-1990s. Extension springs run along the side tracks and are common on older homes.

We replace springs in pairs whenever possible — when one breaks, the other is close behind. A single torsion spring replacement runs $150–$220. A pair is $220–$320. Extension spring pairs run $130–$200 including safety cables.

Why the range? Spring pricing depends on the spring size and weight rating required for your specific door. A heavy insulated door needs a heavier-duty spring than a standard single-car door. We bring the right spring on the first visit based on your door specs.

Garage Door Cable Replacement — $120 to $200

Cables wear and fray over time. When one snaps, the door drops suddenly on that side. We replace cables in pairs — like springs, if one cable wore out, the other one is close. Most cable replacements take about 45 minutes and include inspection of the drum, spring tension, and bottom bracket where most cable failures originate.

Roller Replacement — $100 to $180

Rollers last 5–7 years on average under normal use. Worn nylon rollers make the door loud and cause it to catch or bind on the track. A full roller replacement (typically 10 rollers on a standard door) takes about an hour. We use heavy-gauge nylon rollers with sealed bearings that outlast the plastic originals most doors ship with.

Garage Door Panel Replacement — $200 to $600+

Panel replacement pricing swings wide because it depends heavily on whether a matching panel is still available for your door model, your door's material (steel vs. wood vs. composite), and the panel size. Sometimes a dented panel on an older door can't be matched and the customer has to choose between mismatched panels or a full door replacement. We'll tell you upfront which situation you're in before ordering anything.

Garage Door Opener Repair — $100 to $300

Opener problems range from simple sensor misalignment ($0 — we'll show you how to fix it yourself) to failed logic boards ($150–$250 in parts plus labor). Stripped drive gears — common on older chain-drive units — run $80–$150 to repair. If the opener is more than 10–12 years old and the repair cost approaches half the cost of a new unit, we'll tell you honestly to replace it rather than sink money into aging hardware.

One note: be skeptical of very low advertised prices ("$49 garage door repair") that show up in Lancaster County ads. These are typically a loss-leader service call fee — the actual repair is priced separately and often higher than what a straightforward honest company would charge upfront. We quote the complete job price on the estimate. What we quote is what you pay.
